Zoya Pixie Dust

1:06 PM

'Ello Lovelies!!

As you all know my love for Zoya seems to know no bounds, and their Pixie Dust polishes are no exception.  I have to be honest and say I've only tried two different shades, for some reason the brighter colors just didn't suck me in as much as the gold/champagne shades.

I bring you Tomoko.

Oh sparkely, glittery goodness!  I. Can't. Even.  This polish makes me so happy, it's like diamonds for your nails!  This is a texture polish, which at first I wasn't sure I'd be a fan of. But this one is UH-MAZING!  It goes on so flawlessly, this is two easy coats.  If you've not tried any of the pixie dust polishes then you should know that you shouldn't wear a base or top coat with it.  I've seen some pics of the pixie dust polishes with a top coat and they still look pretty, but I think they lose a little summin' summin'.

I think this color will be lovely for the holidays!  Also the wear on these is incredible!  I usually get a good ten days with this pixie dust polishes.  I plan on using this before I leave for London at Christmas as I know it will last me a while and will add some sparkle to my travels!

The ONLY downside is it seems to slowly lose a little of it's pizzazz with every lotion or cuticle cream application I do.  I'm not sure why, but it's just what I've noticed.

What do you guys think?  Have you hopped on the texture polish train yet?  I'd love to hear your thoughts and suggestions on any you recommend!

Also as I mentioned above I am going to be going to London for the holidays to see my in-laws and will be doing some shopping!! So stay tuned to some posts about different brands that are UK brands nail polish and make-up.  I will also be active on Instagram and Twitter posting pics of my travels so make sure to follow me and join me on our adventure!

Fall into Zoya Mason

5:16 PM

Hello Dearies!!

I have to be honest that the new Zoya fall collection Cashmeres and Satins didn't really put me over the moon.  I ordered a couple of colors that are nice, but not killing me if you know what I mean.  Then in my Ipsy glam bag this month, I got Mason.  If you're not familiar with Ipsy it is a monthly subscription service and you get 4-6 beauty items, many of them full size.  I have to say overall I've been happy with my ipsy glam bag's, I like them waaaaaay more than Birchbox and it's the same price.  Plus with Ipsy you get a cute little make-up bag every month!

So one of the items in my glam bag this month was the Zoya Mason from the fall collection.  O M G this polish......I can't even.  On the website I think Mason looks more like a hot pink metallic, in fact this is the description from Zoya's website "Zoya Nail Polish in Mason can be best described as an exciting red violet or "Fandango Pink" metallic."  What do you think?

First let me say whatever color they want to call it is fine by me because I'm just going to call it LOVE!  Ugh....do you ever wear a polish that just makes you go....ugh? Like a good ugh!  I think it's a bit more purple-pink, and not only is it metallic but it also has tiny glitters in it.  This picture doesn't do this it's full justice.  It's just so beautiful! I think it is going to be a color I go to alot this winter and it's such a lovely jewel tone!

For those of you who don't know, Zoya is by far my favorite nail polish brand and if you haven't tried it I highly recommend it!  No this isn't sponsored and I don't get Zoya sent to me for reviews, unfortunately.  I buy all of my own polish and this is just the best to work with and they have the most amazing colors!

Do you have a favorite brand?  What will be on your digits this winter and holiday season?

Halloween 2013

4:53 PM

"Ello Loves!

So I had promised that I was back to blogging, and look what happened *sighs*.  I'm really sorry guys, not that anyone probably relies on this blog for anything but I should really try harder.  Had a crazy October which included a totally fun day at the office doing mani-CURES as a fundraiser for breast cancer awareness!

Anyway I'm back today to show you what I did for my Halloween nails.  I was going to do some elaborate nail art and then I saw this post by Chelsea from The Nail Network and I was inspired! For those that don't know, The Nail Network was my first blog crush.  Her swatches and nail art is amazing and I always LOVE to see her pics.

And so I decided to do something a little different, and I loved how these turned out what do you think?

I used butter London Jaffa for my base and then using my smallest brush, I layered up different polishes that I felt were Halloween-ish.  The main colors I used were Zoya Mason (pinkish purple), China Glaze Def Defying (green) and Electrify (glitter), and OPI Lincoln Park After Dark (dark purple).  These were so much fun to wear and work appropriate!  I also think something like this would work for a mardi gras theme, they remind me of feathers a bit. I dunno I'll have to play around with this.

I'll have a post about the Zoya Mason soon, as this color is AMAZING!

What did you do for your Halloween nails?  Anyone do anything ghostly or ghoulishly?  Let me know in the comments.

Also is there anything you would like to read or see from me?  I have plenty of polishes I can review and swatch, but am open to different types of posts as well :-)

cheers xx

Red Deliciousness with Zoya Gia!

11:14 AM

Hello there lovelies!!

See I promised I would be back with posts, and here I am!  I was so excited yesterday when my Zoya order arrived!  I don't know about all of you, but oh how I love to get nail mail!  I was especially excited since it was a package of my absolute favorite polish!  For any of you that don't know about Zoya they are a Big 5 free polish that is ah-mazing.  Honestly for me this polish lasts longer then most others and the formula is always incredible.  You can check out there website here.

I ordered quite a variety some good fall/winter shades and also some lovely neutral shades. I will be honest I only ordered two items from their fall collection, I'm just not a huge fan of frosted style polish.  I just don't care for it with my skin tone, although some did sneak into my order!  I can't wait to do some fun nail art with what I got.

But first for you today I have my all time favorite look, a glamorus red nail.  I L-O-V-E a nice simple red nail, there is just something sexy about it I think.  Years ago I would never had thought that I could pull off red nails, but I swear I probably have worn that more then anything else.  I went for a very retro look, and trimmed my talons to be lovely shorties.  The red I picked from Zoya is Gia *drools*.  I will give you all a moment to fall in love.....

Mmmmm I mean come on!  For me this is almost the perfect shade of red!  I can't say if it's more on the orange side or blue side of red, because it's pretty close to dead on red.  The formula on this was gorgeous, and almost could have done with only one coat.  This picture does have a top coat (right now I'm using KBShimmer Clearly On Top), but this seriously hardly needed it.

What do you think?  Do you love red polish like me?  What's your favorite?  I'd love to hear!

cheers xx

Blog, what?

12:01 PM

Hi there friends!

So I have been a naughty blogger, I know I know.

A lot has been going on the last few months, I had a health issue I had to sort out, then I got a promotion at work (yay!), and  also to be honest YouTube has taken over my life!  *sigh* But things seemed to have settled down now and so I'm hoping to get back at it!

Also I have my Zoya back to school BOGO order arriving soon so I will have some goodies to share! I did buy some polishes from different summer collections, but I'll be honest I wasn't over the moon.  For some reason I bought quite a few of the Essie spring/summer collection as I was drawn to all of the neons.  But just as many Essie polishes in the past, they were very disappointing.

So now that summer is coming to an end and my life doesn't feel as chaotic, I'm going to really make an effort to keep up on blogging.  I think the one thing I learned about blogging after I started is how much work it can be when you're doing swatches and taking pictures.  Kudos to all of you beauty and nail bloggers out there who keep this up consistently!

And so on that note, thank you for your patience and understanding.  I hope you all had a wonderful summer and are looking forward to fall as much as I am!  I'm hoping to get more into the indie polishes out there this fall as well.  Oh and I'm going to London at the end of the year and can't wait to pick up some goodies from "over the pond".

p.s. on my digits today is Zoya Charisma which I'm kind of liking as a nice summer to fall transition color :)

cheers xx

Flower Beauty Power!!!

5:10 PM

Hello Lovelies!!

I know it's been a while and this is probably the fastest purchase to blog post I've ever done!  I've been eying the new Flower Beauty by Drew Barrymore for awhile, but I don't go to Wal-Mart that often if I'm honest. So today I made a special trip just to check it out.

First I really hate shopping at Wal-Mart for the simple reason that it's always a mess and they never seem to restock and today was no different!  Also I've been a bit frustrated lately at the drugstore cosmetic areas lately because apparently people have no problems opening up product that is FOR SALE and testing it.  Then they put the cap back on, and put it back!! With THEIR GERMS all over it! GAH!!!!  When will the drugstores start putting out testers like the department store brands?????

Anyway enough of my moaning and onto this BEAUTIFUL nail polish!  OMG I'm so excited about this polish that I'm also on Wal-mart's website right now picking out more colors!!!  I picked up two colors and the one I'm going to show you now is Precious Poppy.

First off let me just say that I have had a long lasting love affair with red nail polish.  So when I find a good one I fall hard, and that is exactly what happened with this polish!  The color is a beautiful red maybe even a hot pinkish red, but red none the less!  And the formula on this stuff!  OMG again it's dreamy!  Nice and creamy, did not get gloppy at all!  The first coat went on well with little to no streaking, and it all evened out nicely with two coats.  It dried quickly and fairly shiny with no top coat.  In the video on their website, Drew says that there is a built top coat and I would say that it dried like it had a top coat.  I did however add top coat to it just for that extra shine!

Again, I'm in love!!!  I would totally recommend this polish, it's 3-free, cruelty free, and made in the USA which makes it a winner in my book!!!

Have you tried Flower yet?  I'm dying to get some of the beauty items now!  It's been a long time since I've fell in love with a polish it makes me so happy!  Oh and the price is awesome for the quality that you get!

cheers xx

p.s. Thank you Drew Barrymore for making some great products at affordable prices and standing behind a product you love xx

Hi Fiver!

4:53 PM

Hello Lovelies!!!

I have more butter London Spring loveliness for you today! Wooo I know you're excited! hehe  Anyway I'm pretty sure I mentioned in my haul post that I had picked up a bunch of polishes, and I'm still trying to get them all on here!

So today I have butter London Fiver for you.  I know, I know another mint green nail polish/beauty post....I felt the same way about all of the mintyness (new word I just made up that spell check doesn't recognize!) out there!  And to be honest I was trying really hard NOT to jump on the trendy band wagon, but alas I broke down and now I might be a convert!  If you're like me you've been thinking that pastels aren't really anything new, right?  I mean I was a teenager in the 80's, I remember what I was wearing and pastels were big then.  However I don't remember them being used in so many amazing ways!!!

Sorry for the yellow-ish tint to this pic, this was the best one of the nails of the bunch I took and I'm not wearing this anymore so I can't take new ones for this post, ugh I know bad blogger! Anyway, you can still how lovely this polish is.  I mean really it's like this summer's new white! And I think this color will look awesome with a tan!

What do you think? Have you jumped on the mint wagon yet?

cheers

butter London LOVE

7:39 AM

Hello Lovelies!!

I am totally backed up in posts!!!  I've lots of pics of things I've done, but just haven't had a chance to post anything!  I had my birthday a few weeks ago and then I got a miserable cold, blah.  But I'm feeling better now and so on with the posts!!!!

First off I have a little fun french mani I did with two new butter London pretties!  I picked up Alcopop (exclusive color to Ulta) and Fairy Lights. I don't remember if I bought these together or not, but once I had them home and all lined up with my other bL's to wear I noticed how lovely they would be together.  So for an Easter/Spring look I did this:

OMG!!!!  I still love this look and will totally do this again!!  First I have to say what a lovely pink cream polish Alcopop is.  This picture doesn't really bring out the true pink of this polish, in the bottle it looks a little softer then pepto pink LOL I love it!!!  And what can I say about Fairy Lights?!?! I know this is a popular polish with bL lovers, and now I know why.  This is a beautiful pink/rose/purple metal/foil polish that is to die for!

The application on both of these were very nice, fairly lights was getting a little gloppy towards the end, but I've learned that's pretty standard for metalic/foil polishes.

What do you think of a non-traditional french mani?  Would you rock this look?

cheers for now

Whimsical

3:57 PM

Hello lovelies!!!

In trying to get more into the spring mood, I've decided to put on something I bought a while back.  I'm not sure if it's going to work, sadly.  I bought Revlon Whimsical as I'd been lusting after the Deborah Lippmann Stairway to Heaven and I read some blogs that said it was a close dupe and since it was much more affordable then the DL I tried it out.

So as I said I've it a while and kept thinking about wearing it, but I just couldn't bring myself to since I just wasn't feeling the lighter colors.  Sadly my nails inc mani started chipping today due to bad top coat application by yours truly, so I thought I'd give it a go.

I'm not sure it really makes me feel Whimsical....

I think I like how it looks natural with a little bit of bling added.  But at the same time I dislike it for the same reason.  I feel like I should go to a baby shower wearing this, and I'm not particularly fond of baby showers. You know what I mean if you've ever been to one and you're not a baby person.  In the bottle this polish looks like a very pale blue cream base with light pink and blue hex glitter scattered about.  But as you can see once it's on the blue part of the cream base kinda goes away.  This is three coats.  Possibly layered over another shade it might stand out more.  But I'm afraid to get this much glitter to appear you'd have to put three layers over whatever base coat you chose.

Anyway I'm sorry if this post seems kinda down and out, but I feel like this polish bummed me out.  Maybe I'll wake up tomorrow and like it more....but I'm not holding my breath.

Have you ever bought a polish that you were dying over only to be disappointed by it?  Let me know how you bounced back from it!!  Hopefully the upcoming holiday will inspire me to do something fabulous for St. Patty's day!

cheers! xx

nails inc!

7:04 AM

Hello there!

As I stated previously in this post I would be doing separate (can't ever spell this right the first go) posts on my polish purchases from my haul!

So today I have for you nails inc London in Notting Hill Gate and from their Feathers line York.  These are my first nails inc polishes, I look at them every time I go to Sephora but am never blown away by the colors they carry there.  I'd been dying to try the Feathers effects and got lucky with the neon shade.  First let me say that I'm in love with their formula!  The neon pink was thin but covered nicely in two coats I think.  And the same with the Feathers, I probably could have done with only one coat of that but I got excited!

I mean seriously this pink is GORGEOUS!  Even though the York Feathers effect doesn't have any pink in it, I think pink, orange, and white go well together! These polishes dried super fast even before I added my Seche Vite top coat.  I did two top coats on the accent nail as there was a little texture to the nail that I didn't want.  I just really can't say how much I love this pink, it's going to be a go to color for this summer I think!

I can't wait to get more of the nails inc colors!!  Do you have any nails inc polishes? Do you love them as much as me?  Comment below and let me know whatcha think!

cheers xx

Zoya Sharon

4:07 PM

Hello Everyone!

Today I have my review of Zoya Sharon, which was recently brought back for a limited time with a purchase for the Peter Som NYFW SS2013.  I purchased the Qtica Overnight Intense Foot Repair Balm, which I will say is AWESOME!

But onto Sharon, oh I love orange polish!  In the bottle this one reminds me of orange sherbert I think, but on the finger it is a bit brighter then that.  I adore this color and as usual the Zoya formula was great. I didn't take any pics before top coat, but it dried with a glossy finish.  I used my Orly matte top coat and here is the end result:

Please forgive my horrible clean up job and the lack of moisturizer on my cuticles!  I had swatched a few others before and my fingers were a little dry.  You can bubbles in the polish, but those are from the top coat not Sharon.  Overall I loved how this simple little manicure turned out!

Now for the down side.....the top coat.  I hadn't used this before so I didn't know how it was.  I've been wearing this manicure for about 5 days now and yesterday I noticed this:

WTH!?!?  I was so bummed!  They should not look like this after only a few days!  UGH!  Anyway I guess I won't be using this again.

Overall I love Sharon and was really happy to be able to pick it up!

Do you have a matte top coat you could suggest/recommend?  I love the way matte nails look, so I'm totally bummed about this.

cheers xx

Bonus Shopping

4:46 PM

Hello Everyone!!

I know I usually post about nail polish, but I received a lovely little bonus from work on Friday and so I did a little shopping this weekend!  Woohoo!!!  I will be posting individual reviews and pics of the polishes that I purchased and will also have a review of my most recent Julep Maven Box soon.  But first my shopping haul!!!!

OMG I had so much fun as you can see!!  And this really isn't everything because I didn't take pics of my clothes and accessories that I purchased.  I'm thinking about doing a haul video but I've not really done any vlogging yet and am a little camera shy and self-concious so maybe I'll get the courage up soon!  Would anyone want to see a video?  Let me know in the comments below, I think I might need a pep talk before I do! LOL

So onto what I bought!  First I just have to say that Charming Charlie, Sephora, and Ulta should send thank you notes to my bank account!

Ok I'm going to go in order of the shops I visited.  So first off was Sephora, I LOVE this store and I HAD to go since it's my birthday month and I needed to get my beauty Insider gift!

Let's go from top left to right: Sephora long lasting eye shadow in Mysterious Forest #46 (clearance bin), nails inc London Feathers in Brighton and York, nails inc London neon in Notting Hill Gate,  Illamasqua in Rare, beauty Insider birthday gift Benefit they're Real beyond mascara and Watt's Up Soft Focus Highlighter.  Phew!  I can't wait to try all of these polishes, I will have reviews and swatches then.  The eyeshadow is a green/black glitter shadow that I'm not sure how it will go, but I can never resist glitter shadows.

Then I went to Charming Charlie in which I didn't take pictures of everything, but in my main haul pic you can see the glittery pink wallet, sunglasses, and I'm not sure you can make out the rhinestone skull bracelet.  I also picked up a beautiful hot pink patent handbag and two new scarves that will fab for spring!

And then last but not least I went to Ulta, where I did the most damage!  Another store I could spend hours in, if it wasn't for the bloody sales people they now have in the prestige cosmetics area.  UGH!  The fact that they didn't have them before was why I loved to shop there.  If I wanted to be badgered I'd go to a department store!  Anyway back to what I purchased:

Once again from left to right; Urban Decay Naked Skin in 2.0, Smashbox Photo Finish primer in Light, butter London Ulta Exclusive set in Alcopop (this was such a good deal at $18, thought it was a good reason to try the lippy), Zoya Blu from the Spring 2013 Lovely collection, and POP beauty i-love palette in Chocoholic.

I was given samples of the Naked foundation with previous Urban Decay purchase and just LOVED it.  I'm sure many other bloggers have reviewed it, but it really is awesome I think.  I've been using a NYX foundation because I just couldn't afford the Urban Decay and I thought it was the closest thing, but the actual Naked foundation is so AMAZING!  It really is weightless and makes my skin look fab I think, or at least as fab as my skin can get LOL!  A few of my friends told me to try the Smashbox primer because I have an issue with oily skin, so I picked it up in Light based on their little dial thingy at the store.  I have to say I haven't felt the need to blot my face at all today, it's really great stuff!  As I said earlier I will review and swatch the polishes in later posts, but I will say this about the Lippy.  First it has an amazing scent, it smells like vanilla cake batter to me which is always nice since your lips are right under your nose!  BUT this stuff is super sticky I thought and really opaque.  I didn't care for the way it covered at all, so I'm kinda bummed about it.  Then last but not least is the eyeshadow palette. I've not worn any of it yet, but I did put my fingers in it all (before I took pics as you can tell) and it seems quite nice.  I was yearning for the UD Naked palette but honestly I have 2 Bobbi Brown palettes that I feel cover all of those shades already.  Also one of the vloggers I subscribe to did a review of an Estee Lauder duo in Raisins (I think?) and I thought a couple of these looked close, and at $10 how can you go wrong?

Phew! Ok I think that's everything, OMG my husband couldn't figure out how I spent so much but didn't have loads of stuff!  But I think I did quite well!

Have any of you tried any of these products?  What is your favorite foundation or primer?  And again would you be interested in a haul video?  LOL I'm addicted to those on YouTube!!

cheers xx

Emerald Green Barry M

7:10 PM

Hello!

Today I have for you Barry M Emerald Green, from my British Invasion treats!  I picked out all of my Barry M's online so I really wasn't sure what I was getting.  But since I have a love for green, I figured I couldn't go wrong with Emerald Green #284.

I can't begin to tell you how much I love this green!  It is such a deep and rich Emerald green I can't believe it.  The first coat went on a little thin, but covered nicely in two coats.  And the holographic glitters scattered throughout are AMAZING!  This polish looks like it will go on thicker then it does, but again it covers nicely in two.

I decided to try out a glitter that I had gotten at Ulta a while back Pinata-Yada-Yada as an accent.  I love how these look together, but felt they looked a little bit too Christmas-y for this time of year.  I do like the Ulta polish, it has lots of different colors and will be good to use with other polishes I think.  It has loads of hex and small round glitters in it and covered quite nicely I think.

I think after my first few interactions with my Barry M polishes I will definitely order some more!

cheers xx

Illamasqua I'm Perfection

5:46 AM

'Ello Lovelies!!

Today I have some swatches and my review of the new Illamasqua I'm Perfection Speckled polishes.  I had been checking the Sephora website frequently to find out when they were available and as soon as they came up,  I was off to my local store.  I walked all over looking for them as I was sure they had to be out already, my poor patient husband quietly followed behind me while I make 3 complete circles around the store.  Finally I succumbed and asked someone if they had them, she also went over to look around the nail polish and came up empty.  She checked the computer, as I was getting disappointed and the anxiety was growing; and she found they did have them and disappeared to the back room.  Couple minutes later she re-appeared with NEW SHIPMENT!!! That's right, they were still in the bubble wrap!!! OMG it was so hard to decide and she was so lovely and patient with my indecision!  I finally decided on two lovely spring colors Mottle and Speckle:

I totally thought I wanted the Fragile which is the lovely pastel blue, but once I saw Speckle the pastel lilac captured my heart!

First let's talk about Mottle....oh yummy mint chocolate chip!  Not only one of my favorite ice creams, but I love this combination of black glitters with the mint green cream base.  The formula on this was wonderful I used two coats, three probably would have given me full opacity.

Second was my surprise love Speckle!  This has the same black glitters in the bright lilac cream base.  I thought this polish might be a bit more pastel when I put it on, but it's brighter then I thought which is what I like!  Again the formula was great as with Mottle, and probably would have achieved full opacity with three coats.
I wasn't sure if I would love them as much as I did in the bottle, but was pleasantly surprised by these and look forward to wearing them and using them as accents.   You can see the full collection of Speckled polishes here on Illamasqua's website and can get them here on Sephora.

How do you feel about the speckled look?  Have you tried these yet?

cheers xx

British Invasion!

3:51 PM

Alright Lovelies!

When my wonderful in-laws came for a visit a few weeks ago, I had asked my sister-in-law to send them with some polishes of course!  And so I got my first group of Barry M and she included a lovely little number from A England.

Oh aren't they pretty!?!?  I was so excited to open them!  From top left we have Gold Mine Glitter 355, Teal 334, Ruby Glitter, Amethyst Glitter 354, (second row) Emerald Green 284, Pink Sapphire Glitter 352, Pink Quartz Glitter 349, and last but certainly not least is A England Dragon.  They really are lovely, aren't they?  Sometimes I wonder if I like nail polish more for how pretty it all is in the bottles!

I will post my review of the A England polish separately as that polish could become my very favorite ever!  I added a pic of the Ruby Glitter over China Glaze Wicked Style and Maybelline Color Show Onyx Rush below.

First of all forgive the mussed up job on my first nail, I was in a hurry to get them done before we went out for dinner that night!  Ruby Glitter has lovely little hex and round hot pink glitters in a clear base with small round and tiny black glitters.  I was hoping that this would have gone on a bit more opaque, but with two coats I think it did the job.  I didn't have to "fish" for any of the glitters and it wasn't too gloppy.  Overall I thought it was good and it will be a nice little glitter for my collection.

Do you have any Barry M?  I believe you can sometimes find them on Harlow & Co, and possibly eBay and Amazon.

cheers xx

Green with Illamasqua

7:14 PM

Hello Lovelies!

Today I have to talk to you about my first Illamasqua to join my family, Viridian!  I had looked at this polish several times over several different trips to Sephora, and then the good ole' IRS sent me some money back  and so she became mine along with several other goodies!

You probably can't tell from here yet that I love green.  In fact as I type this and think about it, I don't even really wear it alot.  BUT  I'm always drawn to it when I'm looking at clothes and make-up, even art and photography.  LOL I think I try to not buy it because I'm afraid I'll end up with all green in my life, and now I hardly have any!

But enough about me, can I introduce you to Viridian?

Sorry if this pic it too large, but I really wanted you to see this lovely color.  I know emerald is the Pantone color 2013, and I think his a beautiful deep emerald green.  If you look you can see the little glitter flecks in this, it kind of twinkles in the light!  You'll notice on my two middle fingers there is a bit of dragging at the base of my nail, I'm not sure if that's the polish or just my bad painting skills.  I added a coat of butter London in Knackered on my index finger.  I'll have a review of that later :-)  I just can't say enough about this Illamasqua polish, the color was amazing and the formula was fantastic.  I've recently purchased two more polishes from their Imperfection Spring collection and I'll have a review on those later.

What do you think?  Do you have any Illamasqua, do you love it?

cheers xx

Oscar Ready

10:40 AM

Hello everyone!

I'm back with a new post!  Last week I had to order my Zoya nail polish remover and whilst I was on their website, I decided it was time to order something from the Spring Lovely collection and my first Pixie dust.  I settled on Jacqueline and Godiva.  Mainly because I do have a love for classic neutrals, but also because I thought I could do some fun things with them together.

First I will talk about Jacqueline.  What a lovely creamy yellow shade this little one is!  It almost looks like butter!  It has a soft iridescence to it's creamy base. As usual Zoya's formula was great, it was a little streaky with the first coat as most lighter polishes are but I think it evened out nicely with the second coat. I wasn't sure how much I would like this color, but once I put it on I knew it would be one of my favorites for spring!

This picture doesn't really do this polish enough justice.  It's just really lovely....as the name of the collection says!  If you're looking for a new neutral, that isn't pink and isn't beige then I highly recommend this polish!

Once I had this on, I still desperately wanted to try my new Godiva Pixie Dust but I wasn't quite ready to part with Jacqueline yet so I decided to try something new.  I added Godiva on my tips for a soft and texture contrast french mani.

I apologize that my lines aren't that straight, but I still really like how this turned out.  The Pixie Dust is really cool and I can't wait to wear it full on.   It got a little thick on the brush the longer it took me to do the tips, but that's expected for any polish.

If you're interested in trying a Pixie Dust or any of the polishes from the Spring Lovely collection you can find them here, as well as all Zoya products.  Have any of you tried any nail art with the Pixie Dust line?  Which one is your favorite?

Cheers xx

Updates..Updates...Updates

4:20 PM

Hello everyone!

So first I want to apologize for not posting in ages!  Work got super busy and then my in-laws were in town from England, so I was a bit distracted.  BUT during that time I picked up some awesome stuff to blog about, including some new polishes brought to me from across the pond!

Also I've changed the name of my blog from nailsessity to Polish Pusher!  My friends kept telling me I was like a "pusher" when I talked about my polish loves, and so the new name was born!  I kinda love it and am going to be working on a revamped look for the blog as well.

I promise my posts will be more frequent in the future and I plan on doing some make-up blogs as well, since that is my second love.

I hope you've all been well and I look forward to sharing my new lovelies soon!!!

cheers xx

Valentine-ish

1:34 PM

Hello!  I know I've not posted in a bit, but I was enjoying my SquareHue.com nails so much I wore them all week.  Plus I've been busy with work and just couldn't be bothered with changing my nails again this week ;-p But I'd been dying to try my new Zoya polishes ever since they arrived last week so today I thought I'd start down the road to Valentine's Day with them today.

I have to admit I'm not big into the whole Valentine's thing, but I am looking forward to doing some fun nails leading up to it.  So in trying to get into the spirit I came up with these, again not too smooshy and hearts yet!

First can I just say how I'm totally in LOVE with Storm (ok maybe more Valentine-y then I thought!).  Zoya's website says it is a "full coverage, holiday black with a high concentration of micro fine diamond holographic glitter."  I'm not sure I agree with the full coverage part as I found it tended to go on a bit spotty and then drag when I tried to put on a second coat.  I opted to put on a base color black and then layer Storm over that.  However even with the application issues, I absolutely ADORE this polish!  It's SO sparkly and shiny!  I added an accent nail in Zoya Portia and did my best to use Storm in the stamp from Mash plate 48.  I actually quite like the way the stamp turned out, but wish it had pulled more of the glitter.  This is two coats of each with Seche Vite top coat.  Portia also went on a bit streaky to begin but evened out fantastically with the second coat.  As always I'm never disappointed with Zoya polishes!

cheers and hearts xx

Good Winter Blues!

6:44 PM

Hello Everyone!  About a week ago I received my first SquareHue.com box with my Arctic Collection, I was so excited and decided to try it out for real.

I decided to use glacier skies and midnight flurries.  I really like these two shades of blue, I don't have a lot of blues in my collection so I'm really happy these lovelies were part of the January box teehee!

Glacier skies is a pretty light blue creme polish.  I have to say initially I was a bit disappointed in the application of this one.  The first coat went on kinda streaky, in fact really streaky but it evened out nicely with a second coat.  I had to do a little touch up on some, but still they turned out really nice and they didn't get clumpy or anything.

Midnight flurries is an ah-mah-zing midnight blue glitter (maybe holo? dare I guess).  For a shimmer glittery polish the application was fabulous.  The polish looks lovely on it's own, but you can really see the depth of this color layered.  In fact I can't wait to layer it over a darker shade.  I think it's going to really show the glitter and shimmer in it.

You can really see the colors in the glitter in this pic that I LOVE!  So far I'm really  happy with my SquareHue polishes.  I can hardly wait to see next months collection called Vintage Love.  If you've not checked out Squarehue.com you can do so here, and you can read my post about my first box arrival here.

I hope you agree with me that these make for GOOD winter blues!!

cheers xx

Tip Toe Through the Julep!

7:45 PM

Hai!  I received my first Julep Maven box last weekend and I've been dying to try my new pretties I received Jodie and Alfre.  I also received the very yummy essential cuticle oil, that has become one of my new favorites!

Julep Maven is a subscription program from Julep that as far as I can tell is an awesome deal!  I've been dying to try Julep, but was holding out for no specific reason really.  So when I read about Julep Maven on a fellow blog (forgive me, I can't remember which one) I decided it was time!  The Maven box is $19.99 a month, which might seem a little steep for some but I got two polishes ($14 ea), cuticle old ($18), and two glitter pots (unknown value).  If my math is right this totals $46 so this seems like an awesome deal to me!  Also as a Maven you get a discount on all products on their website, you can gift your box to someone else any month you like, you can preview what your going to get each month, and you can add up to 3 other items before your box is shipped each month.

My first box arrived rather quickly and was packaged very nicely in a little pink bag tied up with a black bow inside of the box.  I would add pictures if my phone would connect to my laptop properly :-/

And so here is Jodie....

At first I wasn't too sure about Julep's style assesment saying I was "classic with a twist", and initially I was overwhelmed by the colors sent to me in my first box.  But look at this in the light....

Jodie is a beautiful gold-ish pink/salmon toned polish shown here in two coats.  This polish has a beautiful gold subtle shimmer to it and looks lovely in the light.  this is not a polish I would have probably picked out for myself, but it looks great on!  I have to say application was a little streaky and seemed to even out with a second coat, but in the light you can still see a little streak on a couple of nails.  But overall I really love this polish and so glad that I'm going to get new ones next month!

If you're looking for a good deal and interested in Julep I would definitely look into the Maven box.

It's hip to be SquareHue!!!

6:48 PM

Oh what thrill it was when I came home this evening to see this lovely little box outside my door!  I found about SquareHue last month when I read one of my favorite bloggers The Nail Network's review. Chelsea said such amazing things and with her little blogger discount, I just had to try it!

SquareHue is a 4-free (free of DBP, toluene, formaldehyde, and camphor), monthly subscription ($21) that you can pause and cancel at any time.  Each month you get three new colors selected based on fashion trends.  Also one of the things I liked about SquareHue is that they donate a portion of their proceeds to different organizations, this month it's The A21 Campaign.  I've tried a couple of other subscription boxes and cancelled them after a couple of months as I was totally disappointed in the sizes of the products I was sent.

I opened my lovely little box and was so excited (and NOT disappointed)!

And here are my 3 lovelies in The Arctic Collection, from top to bottom Arctic Frost, Glacier Skies, and Midnight Flurries

Here are two coats of each without a top coat (forgive the messy middle finger, I did these just to see the polish)

Arctic Frost is an almost clear polish with silver and white flakies and glitter.  In the bottle it looks like a creamy silver but on the nail it's sheer and almost looks like frost!  Glacier Skies is a lovely sky blue and the formula is a nice and creamy. Last but certainly not least is Midnight Flurries, this might be my favorite out of the three.  This is an awesome blue shimmer with little colorful glitters.  These are all beautiful on their own, and might be better with three coats; but I can't wait to try them layers to really show off their colors!!!

If you haven't checked out SquareHue yet you should definitely do it today!  And if you have looked at it but were unsure about it, order it today!!!

Elephant?

1:14 PM

Yesterday I stopped in Old Navy to get a pair of jeans, and you know how they have it all set up so you have to stand in line with all of the little trinkets for sale? Kinda like a the grocery store where they place the impulse items. Well they got me with this pretty little bubble gum pink shimmer polish on sale for $1.50!

It's a pretty polish and I wanted to wear it, but being in Chicago in January I wasn't really feeling shimmer pink.  So I was thinking about this color and what I could do with it, and somehow I started thinking of elephants and mainly one elephant named Horton.  I dunno why but Horton always make me smile, and that little flower that held Whoville kinda reminds me of that polish.

 Elephant? you say?

You can kinda see it right?

So I went with Zoya Carey which is a favorite of mine, it's so smooth and creamy.  The dots on my ring finger are Old Navy Tip Toe Preppy Pink Joli Rose, butter London Disco Biscuit and Snog.  I'm quite happy with how this turned out, and will still be suitable at work.  My husband said I should have used a matte top coat on all the grey, so I guess I will have try something like that next time :-)

New Year's Prezzie

12:30 PM

Hello there!  I say that as if anyone is actually reading this thing lol  Anyway for Christmas my mom got me a gift card to a local beauty store so I could get some polish!! YAY!!  She said she didn't dare pick any out for me!  So off I went to pick out my new pretties!

You will learn over time that I am horrible at making decisions!  Suffice it  to say I spent a lot of time a the shop, looking at all of the lovelies there.  Pick up three, sure I was getting those only to put them down because I found a few others I thought I liked more.  In the end I decided to pick up my first deborah lippmann. I'd been lusting over her polishes for awhile now, but just couldn't bring myself to spend the $$ and what is a gift card for if it's not to buy yourself something you wouldn't spend your money on!

So Let's Go Crazy!!!!

This pic isn't the best, I had a hard time getting the lighting right to show off all of the colors in this glitter polish.  Let's Go Crazy is full of fabulous pink and lavender hex glitters in addition to the loads of smaller purple, red, green, and blue glitters.  All of those gorgeous little ladies are in a deep royal purple almost black jelly base, and so here I've layered it over butter London HRH.  I really like this polish!  It's so pretty and sparkly and festive!  I wore this all week long to work and it stayed put.  Although I have to say that I used Seche Vite top coat and it seemed after a few days it got a little...bumpy is the only word I can think of.

Overall I love Let's Go Crazy and will probably wear it a lot!  I also want to try it over a black polish and see if the glitter colors stand out even more!

cheers xx
